About Timberwolf Spinners

A family workshop in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania, building in-line spinners by hand to a pattern proven over sixty years.

Built where they are fished

Timberwolf Spinners is based in Spring Mills, in Centre County, Pennsylvania. Fred Price owns the business and builds the spinners, and the pattern he builds to has been catching fish for more than sixty years.

Every spinner is assembled by hand in our own workshop, from premium components and natural wood duck, turkey and pheasant feather. Nothing is bought in finished and relabeled. When a customer telephones with a question about which spinner suits a particular creek in a particular month, they are speaking to the person who made it.

That matters more than it sounds. The waters this spinner was developed on — Penns Creek, Poe Valley, Spruce Creek, Marsh Creek, Bald Eagle Creek, the Juniata River — are the same waters we fish. The weighting, the blade sizes and the tail patterns all come from six decades of finding out what works there, and then finding out that it works everywhere else too.

Proven well beyond Pennsylvania

Timberwolf spinners have been fished in all fifty states and in a number of countries. The catch galleries on this site include a brook trout from Cloud River Lake in Newfoundland and a Dolly Varden from Montana Creek in Alaska, alongside the browns and rainbows from home water.

On Pennsylvania Outdoor Life

WNEP’s Pennsylvania Outdoor Life has featured Timberwolf Spinners more than once, joining Fred and Jake Price on Pine Creek in Centre County for winter trout and again for a bass segment. Those films are linked from the home page.
