Choosing a tail
A dressed hook materially changes how a spinner fishes. The tail determines whether a fish takes out of hunger or out of reflex, so it is worth selecting deliberately for the conditions on the day.
- Match the hatch during a mayfly hatch with pheasant tail or brown.
- Trigger reaction strikes with orange, yellow or a flash tail.
- Additional movement in the water compared with a bare hook.
- Hand tied in the USA from wood duck, turkey and pheasant feather.
Tail colors
White · Pheasant Tail · Brown · Black · Blue · Green · Orange · Yellow · Gold Flash · Silver Flash
Every tail is tied individually from natural feather, so some variation in color and shape between spinners is normal.
